Masturbation for Orgasms is good for Your Health
This may or may not come as a surprise to you, but there is growing evidence to support the theory that orgasms have clear health benefits. Whether you achieve orgasm through regular sex or through masturbation and perhaps the use of sex toys, it seems the more you do it the better you will feel and the longer you may live.
There is no scientific proof to support this, but you can argue that the case is pretty strong and let’s face it; a good orgasm has to be one of the best stress tamers!
Everyone knows it is easier for men and that in most cases; men tend to masturbate more often and from an earlier age.
Many women choose to masturbate, often as a result of feeling frustrated with a disappointing male companion, but also as a means of learning what works for them so that they can pass this information on to their lover in order to improve their time together. Another health benefit to masturbation for women is the easing abdominal cramps during their periods.
Brian Alexander, a California-based writer who covers sex, relationships and health wrote an article for MSNBC.com in which he listed some of the health benefits of orgasm ranging from pain relief to easing depression and stress. In his article he quotes Jennifer Bass, the head of information services at the Kinsey Institute for Research in Sex, Gender and Reproduction in Bloomington, Indiana and she says “The release from orgasm does much to calm people. It helps with sleep, and that is whether we talk about solo sex or sex with a partner”.
The connection to pain relief lies in oxytocin, a natural chemical in the body that surges before and during climax along with a couple of other compounds like endorphins. According to a study by Beverly Whipple, professor emeritus at Rutgers University and a famed sexologist and author, when women masturbate to orgasm, “the pain tolerance threshold and pain detection threshold increased significantly by 74.6 percent and 106.7 percent respectively.”
Alexander goes on to list cardio health benefits, prostate cancer prevention and anti ageing among the other health benefits of masturbation and orgasm so it certainly looks like there might be something in this argument!
